Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) is most familiar to everyone, after old CRT televisions this Television desktops are most popular around the globe. Both the displays having the pixels which but the LCD displays are most thinner and effective. The color display quality is decided by the total number of pixels used to develop that display, more pixels means the display having the more picture quality. One pixel is having the multilayer sandwich structure and backlight is present to give the brightness to the display. Today we are discussing about the working of the individual pixel of the LED screen.

The pixels are the tiny color elements of the LCD display and the size of this pixels are in micron, each pixel having the three sub pixels. This sub pixels are red(R), green(G) and blue(B) in color which are the three basic colors and we can produce any color by adjusting the brightness and intensity of this sub pixels. For example when all three sub pixels are brighten that time we can see the white color on the LCD screen. This technology used in CRT displays also but the difference is that the size of the pixels are quite larger than current displays.

The pixel components of LCD display are given below:

Vertical and horizontal Polarizing films:

The appropriate amount of light passed through the backlight is ensured by the Polarizing film which placed at the backlight. This polarization films is the horizontally and vertically polarized.

Positive and negative electrodes:

This electrodes are simply work as a switch to on or off the light of sub pixels present in the particular pixel of the screen. This OFF and ON process is most important to formation of 16.7 millions of different colors which we looks on the screen of LCD. We can develop the more than 16.7 colors by adjusting the light and brightness of this three colors which are R,G &B.

Liquid crystal layer:

This layer is most important for the light polarization, this light get twisted or rotated after passed by the polarizer part of the liquid crystal layer.

Backlight or mirror:

The backlight or mirror is the light source and it is the most important part of the display, it may be a florescent lamp in older models of the display. In modern LCD screens the LEDs(Light Emitting Diode) are used to provide the backlight to the screen.
